Have purchased 2 of these. one for PC other for Mac. The product works very well under either enviroment. Would recommend to anyone interested in a powered 2.0 hub
A nagging USB problem was disappearance sporadically of My Book external J-drive from My Computer. Solved by Belkin.
My mac kept mounting the external disk from time to time, and my printer software kept poping up connection error window. I purchased this hub in August 08, and for the first 7 months, it worked well. But recently the devices connected to it kept droping connection from time to time. The most annoying thing is my wireless mouse, it lost connection very often. I have to get rid of it, and change for another hub.By the way, it would get quite hot if you have it working days and nights.
I bought this Belkin hub about a year ago to use for my 2 External Hard drives, Printer, Wireless USB receiver, USB bluetooth receiver, USB keyboard & mouse, and USB gamepad controller. I plugged it directly into the wall since I leave it on continuously (as oppeosed to a surge protector that I cut off when computer is not in use). It has been powered on for a year nonstop and it has worked perfectly. I don't know what's going on with other people's Belkins overheating.
Amazon, on the other hand, will go above and beyond to make good on the rebate promises Belkin fails to honor. (I have had five of them). The Belkin 7-port is a nicely designed USB hub and works well for one to two years. As far as the operation of the device, it works as advertised and is quite convenient for jump drives because of the top loading two ports. With Amazon's pricing they can and should be considered disposable, to be replaced within two years. Under no circumstances trust the company, Belkin, regarding rebates since they are liars and cheats. It does seem to run warm or even hot, depending on the loads, and I suspect this contributes to the unexpectedly short life span. In summary - good price-performing, disposable hub - do not trust Belkin with rebates.
